What’s on: Grow’s ECD training
Every Friday from 9 May to 13 June
09:00 to 15:00
Grow ECD offices: Durban
An ECD centre is a complex small business. Owning one comes with sleepless nights worrying about finances, staff issues, business growth and sustainability. There is the added stress of trying to provide 5-star education to learners despite many challenges like limited space, few resources and untrained teachers. ECD owners are usually women with a love for children who may have an ECD qualification but have no business-related education. As any small business owners know, it can get overwhelming.
Grow ECD has developed an intensive programme that shows ECD owners and principals how to operate profitable and sustainable centres with a good, practical curriculum, called Accelerator.
This six-part course, which takes place once a week, offers an all-in-one training solution covering everything an ECD owner or principal needs, including:
- personal leadership
- managing money
- running a preschool like a sustainable business
- providing a quality early learning
- getting registered with the Department of Education,
- using technology to work smarter
- accessing ECD finance to grow your business.
Participants must apply to take part in this course, and if accepted, pay the course fees of R600 (the course is valued at R2200). There is limited space and a shortlisting and selection process to ensure the course matches each participant’s needs as Grow doesn’t want anyone to waste money. The next 6-part course will take place on Fridays from 9 May to 13 June, from 09:00 to 15:00, at Grow ECD offices in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Gqeberha only. Participants must attend each of the six training days.
To apply for this intensive course, participants must have:
- an ECD qualification NQF4
- preschools must have 25 or more learners or the legal capacity for 30 learners
- Preschools must charge at least R350 per month in school fees
- Must have access to an Android smartphone or tablet
- Participants must arrange their own transport to attend all six training sessions at the TCB offices in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg or Gqeberha, and provide their own lunch for each full day’s training.
The course fees include a professional facilitator, handouts and notes, certificate of completion. Travel and lunch are not included.
