Nkosi was confirmed to be suffering “health issues” after mysteriously missing out on numerous Sharks United Rugby Championship games this year, which head coach Sean Everitt said was due to a gastrointestinal virus.

The winger wrote on his Instagram account: “Thank God, the surgery was successful. Be back soon (heart). To those who’ve been missing me on the field, I’ll be back to entertain you soon.”

It’s also unclear how long Nkosi will further be out for.

The 26-year-old has also been linked with a move from the Sharks to the Bulls, with CEO Eduard Coetzee conceding it might be a possibility that the Durban side lose the World Cup winner.
