A 47-year-old man from Trenance Park, outside Durban, died after he was allegedly stabbed multiple times by during a domestic violence dispute on Friday night.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived at the scene just after 10 pm with their paramedics and security officers.
Spokesperson for Rusa, Prem Balram said they found the man lying in a pool of blood in the passage inside the house. Balram said he had 12 stab wounds to his back, chest and face.
He said showed no signs of life and was declared dead by paramedics.
It is alleged the man and his wife were involved in an argument when one of the family members intervened. During an altercation the man was allegedly repeatedly stabbed the family member.
Balram said the family fled but later returned with his clothing drenched in blood.
He was arrested by Verulam SAPS.
